For those of us who love our Americanos rich and our lattes frothy, the same scents and sensibility can be found in the caffeine-based skincare line Sher Bodycare (a.k.a.- my new morning wake-up and rev-up routine).
Calgarian Cheryl de Champlain started creating her own creamy concoctions when she couldn’t find products to address her ailing skin. Champlain focused first on cleansing, creating an assortment of all-natural soaps, and filled out her skincare regime with scrubs and sumptuous lotions.
A firm believer in replenishing the body with all-natural ingredients, Champlain has been infusing her products with derivatives of Mother Nature for 14 years. In fact, her entire Sher Bodycare line is made from 98% all-natural ingredients – with only one preservative being included in the products now that they’re being sold in a commercial setting. As Champlain says, “it just lets the products do their job better,” because the preservative helps the products remain stable for longer periods of time; ensuring that we get all the benefits of the natural source vitamins Champlain packs into her products.
The #1 ingredient that is infused into the Sher Bodycare line, is what for some, is a daily addiction: coffee.
Most are familiar with the jolt to the senses the morning favourite elixir provides but Champlain has centred her products around caffeine because of its effects on the skin. Like many skincare creators, Champlain discovered research noting the benefits of caffeine and immediately started including the ingredient in her products. Known as Mother Nature’s dehydrator, caffeine literally sucks water from surrounding fat cells while tightening pores.
Since Champlain launched Sher Bodycare with Coffee Cream Delight, the first installment of products infused with caffeine, ladies have been lathering the luscious lotions onto their lower halves and loving the tightening effect it has on their thighs. But, as Champlain notes, there are no guarantees for how each body will respond to caffeine. Taut or not, everyone can benefit from the uplifting aroma of coffee wafting from an early morning shower.
Scent and skin firmness aside, I’m especially fond of the scrub’s versatility in making my whole body smooth. Instead of being bogged down in heavy oils, the dry granules can be used from your face to your feet without the worry of clogging pores. Hands, elbows, knees (or toes), use the grains fresh from the jar or mix the scrub with a dollop of the Coffee Mocha shower gel for the perfect 2-in-1 cleanser and exfoliant. If you take a gentle touch and make small, circular motions, Champlain assures me the scrub is safe on the face. One step better: I make sure I give my lips a buff and, sure enough, they were the perfect, smooth base for my favourite winter lipstick.
Though caffeine can be found in a multitude of skincare products these days, it’s Champlain’s holistic approach to the power of scent and the importance of natural ingredients that will keep me reaching for my daily dose of her Coffee Mocha products.

Sweet! I wonder if I’d be able to use this… I have a caffiene allergy for when I ingest it, but topographically, it might be helpful… this could be super cool to try. Didn’t even know this existed.
What is the preservative used?
